I'm just going to come out and say it, I am a Value Village addict. If it's cheap and I'm talking about 50% off days cheap, then I'll buy it, even if it doesn't fit, has a hole or is just plain ugly. I assume at some point, I'll find a way to re-use or salvage it and if not, who cares it was only $3.00!
Sometimes, however you end up lucking out and come up with the perfect fix for your slightly defective, but awesome item. Like these, canvas shoes Jake found at VV.
As a taller gentleman it's often difficult to thrift animal friendly, stylish, size 12 shoes. So despite the stain at the toe we bought them hoping to find a way to save them. I remembered seeing a post on A Beautiful Mess ( an amazing DIY and lifestyle blog) about adding fabric to boots. With Jake's approval I decided to DIY his shoes for the win! We bought some Modge Podge and I used an old but loved t-shirt to try and give these shoes a second life.
It was a pretty easy task to do during an evening watching trashy reality television. The first shoe probably took a good 20 to 30 minutes, however after getting practice on the first one I busted the second shoe out in less than 15 minutes! Such a great project for re-using a favorite old t-shirt while customizing a pair of otherwise plain shoes.
Yep, definitely a win, Jake got bright new shoes for Spring and I didn't have to pay for the Modge Podge.
Night friends, there's a sleepy guy in the other room I have to attack.
